When you want a change of career, how do you do it? Liz Gavrilenko decided to become an artisan baker and has made a success of it in her little yellow Van du Pain that she parks up in Moretonhampstead.
Liz came along to the North Bovey Belles WI on Thursday 13th to tell us all about her adventure. She started baking bread in her kitchen making 10 loaves at a time. She now cooks in the old hospital kitchen. Not only that but she now also makes cakes and pastries as well. She told us that there is a lot of help for folk who are thinking of setting up their own business, you just have to start looking.
Following on from that success, she has been investigating how to help people who are lonely and came up with the idea of teaching anybody, including men, how to cook: people who have been recently bereaved, people living on their own. Not only does this give you an interesting hobby to do during the day but they also get to meet other people in similar circumstances and it breaks that lonely cycle.
The next meeting is on 11thJuly at 7.30 when Sharon Davies from Midfield Granola will be taking the meeting at the Parish Rooms. Do come and join us. For any further information ring Nicki Shears on 07506 461191.
