We’ve all seen it behind the bars and on the shelves of off licences and now North Bovey Belles WI have heard the story behind the new gin Papillon.
This gin is distilled locally in Moretonhampstead and the owners, Claire and Adam Hines, have ensured that all aspects of their product reflect a local ethos and draw on reflections of Dartmoor. That starts with its distinct design of the labels and boxes down to the seventeen different aromatics that are added to the gin in order to produce its unique flavour.
The idea of distilling their own gin started on a long bike ride from Scotland to Devon before the current fashion for speciality gins. But having a head start, the Hines were a step ahead of the game and are now selling as much gin as they can make to local businesses.
North Bovey Belles were able to sample Papillon Gin with various mixers to taste the difference in the flavours. Thank you to Claire for a very entertaining evening.
Do join us next month when we can decorate our own chocolate Easter Eggs – Thursday 11th April at 7.30pm at North Bovey Village Hall. We would love to see ladies wearing Easter Bonnets on the evening so let’s have some fun making and displaying them. Please feel welcome to join us.
