    North Bovey Exposed.

We have put together a portfolio website for our very own Mike Rego. He’s far too polite to post it himself so here is where you can find it www.mikerego.photography. Let him know what you think! And it’s not all sheep. He seems pretty struck by sheep, which is a worry. Have a look at Japan, Egypt & more on the way . . .

    Plain Paper

I am struck by how dull our humble Blog looks without pictures. When you post it really does catch the eye better with an image if you have, or can find, one. Brighten it up, be imaginative. Have a little fun! Also do remember to add tags so that readers can easily look up related posts in future days . . . Suggestion over. Back to the white-heat of the Village Voices newsroom. From Devon and Cornwall Police…. Elderly residents throughout the Devon and Cornwall region are being targeted by a national ‘telephone fraud’ scam. A person claiming to be a police officer or from your bank will phone and claim your bank card has been used fraudulently. They may suggest you call your bank to ensure the call is genuine. Rural Broadband Update

There have been some updates on the “Connecting Devon and Somerset” website indicating times that different parts of the Parish should gain access to faster internet. Specifically, north of the village (generally connected to BT’s “Ashburton 2” cabinet) is shown as being live, and much of the rest of the Parish (connected via Mortonhampstead 4) should be ready in October. You can check which cabinet your phone line is connected with BT on their DSL Checker. When the cabling is all in place an improved network connection will require discussion with your internet service provider.

    Security Cameras

Over the last year there have been a variety of incidents for which the monitoring of traffic into and out of the village would have been useful. While it is open to any individual to place surveillance cameras on their property, the Parish Council would be interested to know whether the community as a whole would welcome the increased security provided by such devices at strategic points or whether the use of this technology would be perceived as intrusive. We would welcome your opinion on this matter. Please contact Councillor Hazel Jones if you wish to comment. Osmonda Cottage, The Village, North Bovey hazelajones@gmail.com 01647 440143
