Parish Hall – spread the word!

This is just a gentle reminder that the Parish Hall is available for hire. The NBPH is a registered charity and so proceeds from any events held there are put straight back into its support and maintenance. The best way to support the NBPH is to keep using it. The hall can be used for a variety of events and activities which include; Lectures, Dance Classes, Meetings , Trade fairs, Exhibitions, Catered events and Children’s parties (and table tennis). Bookings information: To discuss booking availability for events please get in touch with the Bookings Secretary, Rob Irving. Tel: 01647 441 348 Email: irving@brencott.eclipse.co.uk

    POETRY EVENING

We will be holding a very informal “poetry evening” in THE RING OF BELLS on Wednesday 22nd October.     Two published poets from the village will read and discuss their own work, the audience is invited to read a  piece of either their own writing or just a favourite poem, and there is a prize for the best limerick – the first line of which must end with “North Bovey”.  All very informal and light hearted and open to everyone to join in with the discussions and fun.   Start time is 7pm, cost £5.00 and Richard will provide a simple “chicken ‘n’ chips supper for £6.95.   Tickets may…

    OAFs – Monday 15th September

Hello all Our next OAFs meeting will be tomorrow (Monday) 15th September in the Parish Hall at 7.00pm.  It would be great to see you, if you’re able to come. Just a reminder, that the idea of OAFs (which stands for Open Arts Forum) is to explore various aspects of the arts and literature in a considered and enjoyable way.  We haven’t been going long, but we’re planning generally to meet once a month and each session will have a pre-declared topic for discussion, to which you will be expected to respond by bringing with you a piece of literary work.  This could be in the form of an extended…

    Lost Sheep!

North Bovey is missing it’s sheep! Sometime over the summer the sheep, displayed on the village green and painted by the local children, wandered off. If anyone has seen it recently or knows of it’s whereabouts could they please contact me (441224) so that we can collect it. Alternatively, it can be returned to the church. We would really like to have it back in time for the Harvest Festival as it could be used to illustrate the talk that David Ursell has planned.

    Explorers Wanted!

It would be good to see our humble blog reach out to the whole Parish more. We have 56 subscribers. More who just pop in from time to time. Mostly in the village or very close by. If each one emailed, or phoned, a friend in the outer boundaries of the Parish we could achieve a wider reach – for the Parish Council, Parish Hall etc. Villages can be great small communities but such a shame if they stop looking outwards. Have your share!
