Beating the Bounds
On May 23rd we are beating part of our Bounds. The portion we will beat this year is from Firth Bridge near Grimspound to the County road near Brinning Landing. As some sections are more challenging than others, there are opportunities to join or leave the group at several points along the route. In line with tradition, members of the group will be bumped on the Boundary stones especially the new Boundary stone at Dickford Bridge. The section from Clapper Bridge to Brinning Landing will be walked together with a group from Lustleigh along our joint boundary, so be prepared to defend our Parish against encroachment: we might also try…

church roof update
Having done the hard bit and been awarded a grant we have now completed all the necessary paperwork for the Diocese in order to get permission to do the work! This has now been submitted and after a few weeks wait we hope to get the go ahead to start work at the beginning of September. The work should take about 10 weeks and the church will be able to remain open during the re-roofing. Front page images
There is a change authors need to know about on Parish Voices. The new front page allows for more posts but images work slightly differently. If you want an image to appear on the front page you should select ‘Set featured image’ from the menu. This is in addition to the full image. I use a size of 548×237 pixels for this. If left it will automatically choose an area of your image to display. You can use this as an example.

From the police……Trading Standards
Trading Standards have received a number of complaints about unsolicited visits from doorstep traders offering gardening, building and driveway works. These complaints often mention poor quality work, excessive costs, and even sometimes elderly people being driven to the bank to withdraw cash. By law, doorstep traders have to give you written information before you agree to a contract – including their name and address, how much the work will cost and how long it will take to complete. They also have to give you a written notice telling you about your right to a 14 day cooling off period – although you can decide to have work done during this…
