Help Spot the Signs of County Lines

Tell Us What is Happening in your Area Devon & Cornwall Police has launched a campaign asking members of the public to help spot the signs of County Lines and report any suspicious activity taking place in their community. Since the Government restrictions were imposed to stop the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), ‘County Lines’ drug dealers have changed the way they operate. ‘County Lines’ is a term used to describe urban gangs supplying drugs to other parts of the UK via dedicated mobile phone lines. The gangs are likely to exploit children or vulnerable adults to move and store drugs and will often use coercion. Previously, deal lines were created to…

    Latest From Devon County Council

Sorry, it’s a long one Just as the evidence starts to show that the country may have reached a peak in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases reported via hospitals, we have a reminder today from the Office of National Statistics that deaths in community settings, including care homes, are continuing to rise. Community reporting lags some way behind the hospital data, but what is clear is that the death toll will keep on rising for some time. Here in Devon, whilst we can be thankful that the infection curve has been lower and slower than in other places, it is likely that we have yet to see the peak in initial cases.…

    Message from Moorgate Vets

Just a reminder that to reduce trips to the surgery and comply with social distancing we are using telephone or video consultations, these are charged at half the normal cost and if you do subsequently have to attend the surgery this is taken off the consultation fee.  Often it is easier to send some pictures in advance and then chat on the phone, one of the biggest challenges can be getting good “eye” photos – luckily the team at Small Animal Referral Hospital Langford Vets University of Bristol have come up with this handy fact sheet.  https://www.langfordvets.co.uk/…/tips-for-taking-photos-of-…

    671 Bus Update

Message From Tony at Carmel Coaches At present there seems no point in serving North Bovey with the Wednesday 671 service. However should any one need transport then they can ring us on 01409 221237 before Wednesday morning and we will call and pick them up. Our phoneline is open 24/7. We are still running to Newton Abbot every Wednesday but as only limited shops are open we are returning early when everyone has completed their shopping and returned to the bus. This avoids people having to stay out any longer than necessary thus reducing the risk of exposure to the virus.

Coronavirus: Ask-a-friend cash access scheme extended

Anyone who cannot leave home may be able to ask a trusted friend or volunteer to withdraw cash at any Post Office using a single-use voucher. The Post Office scheme is being extended and offered to all banks, building societies and credit unions. If the bank allows it, someone can ask for a one-time barcode sent via text, email or post for a stipulated amount. A trusted friend or volunteer can exchange the voucher for the cash requested. Previously, only a named individual, such as a carer, could collect cash in this way on someone’s behalf. Now any trusted neighbour or volunteer can do so. The idea of the Payout…
