Three months to go! (well, slightly less)
Yes, this year’s fair will be on Saturday 19th of July, and all preliminary boring bits of admin have been done. As a reminder to everyone, and information for newcomers, last year we we made a profit of almost £3,500, and this allowed us to make donations to the Church, the Parish Hall and smaller donations to other worthy causes. The Church and Hall have huge bills every year for insurance, as well as their ongoing maintenance costs, and the Fair profit makes a big contribution to both these insurance bills.
I will be emailing around all the usual hard workers to find out if they will take part again this year, but as it is my last year as chair and secretary combined, it would be good to have some new people on the committee. Committee meetings are few and far between and if you join you will have a say in how the profits are allocated, as well as the future of the Fair (perhaps it is in a rut?) It is a way of substantially contributing to the Parish, and have fun at the same time. We have many new young people in the parish, so…….
Anyway, watch this space – as we have lost one or two stalwarts – the Renoufs will be sorely missed, and for a few the lure of Lords Cricket Ground has proved too much (you know who you are!). After my email round I will appeal for volunteers for the jobs which still need doing.
In the meantime, here is a comedy vegetable display. Please put the date in your diary, invite your friends and families, and hope for good weather!
