Remembrance Day 11th November
The annual Act of Remembrance in North Bovey will take place around the Lych Gate of St John’s Church at 10.55am on Wednesday 11th November. Please observe strict social distancing and consider wearing a face covering to help protect other participants. This year’s event will necessarily be slightly different as we will be spread out around the Green and Churchyard and unable to participate in the same way as usual. Wreaths will be laid by representatives of the PCC and Parish Council, and a 2 minute silence will be observed. It’s HARVEST FESTIVAL at St John’s, North Bovey, tomorrow Sunday 4th October at 11.00am. All welcome. If you can, please bring donations of tinned and/or packet food for the Food Bank!

The following announcement was made at church services in the Benefice this morning ANNOUNCEMENT – For services on Sunday 23rd August 2020 It is announced today that the Reverend Prebendary Susan Sheppard has been appointed Associate Priest in the parishes of Moretonhampstead, Manaton, North Bovey and Lustleigh. Sue is presently part-time Staff Tutor for Devon on the South West Ministry Training Course (SWMTC), one of the regional Church of England colleges responsible for the formation and training of clergy and lay ministers. CHURCH OPEN
FROM SUNDAY 19th JULY WE ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR CHURCH WILL BE OPEN DURING THE DAY FOR ALL WHO WISH TO COME IN AND ENJOY A QUIET SPACE FOR PRIVATE PRAYER, REFLECTION AND CONTEMPLATION. We have a new donation station which takes contact less payments – come and have a go! Please note that some areas still have restricted access including the bookstall, side aisles and side chapels. Printed matter is still unavailable but you may access the Wifi for online publications.

Church Service
Our services resume this Sunday, 5th July at 10.00am with a short prayer service. All guidelines from the government and the Diocese will be observed including social distancing, hand sanitiser and no singing – but don’t let that put you off! There will be a warm welcome assured and plenty of smiles instead of handshakes. Our contactless ‘donation station’ is also now installed for cashless donations with contactless cards. Weather permitting please bring your own refreshments to enjoy outside after the service. Good News – Church is open
St John the Baptist church will be open on Wednesday afternoons from 12pm and again on Sunday mornings until 12pm for private prayer and reflection in line with Government guidelines.Parts of the church have been cordoned off and certain soft furnishings and books removed as these would be difficult to clean and the PCC ask that anyone who enters the church during these times adheres to the requests in the notices in the church.By opening for only 2 sessions per week this enables the church to be “quarantined” for the advised 72 hours in order that we do not have to clean the numerous surfaces (some of which are highly…

Food Banks
The food bank deposit box is now located in the church porch. The food bank are aware and items will be collected from there so please do leave whatever you can spare or donate money online. This is the current advice being issued by the Exeter Diocese How can we best help at the moment? Whilst money is always welcome, donations of food and other requested items are particularly wanted, where possible. This is for two reasons: 1) Many supermarkets are limiting how much food people can buy – including even volunteers buying for food banks. 2) As more of us are self-isolating and buying food online, donations in supermarket…

Church open
Following the recent statement by the Archbishop of Canterbury and our own Exeter Diocese directive it will be necessary to suspend our usual church services as from today. The church will be open as usual during the day for private prayer and we hope you continue to use it for such.
