Church roof latest

After successfully achieving an award from the Listed Places of Worship for a new roof for our church we now had to apply to the Diocese of Exeter for a faculty (permission) to replace the existing one! After filling in all the forms and carrying out an emergence survey of any bats that may be in residence (none that we could see) and consulting with our architect it seems we still have a little way to go to dot all the i’s and cross the t’s to satisfy all the strict requirements. Then there’s the problem of finding the appropriate amount of reclaimed Delabole slates as they are in much demand by other churches doing repairs and restoration. We now anticipate that we should be able to make a start in Spring/early summer of 2016 so, let’s pray for a quiet winter without too much wind and rain and snow and a nice bright sunny dry Spring.
