North Bovey Parish Hall – Update from the Trustees

The Trustees would like to thank everyone who was involved in, or came along to, the Friday night “Pub in Exile” held in the Parish Hall over the last few months. Over £620 was raised for the Hall funds, as well as a good time being had by all! The pre-Christmas event in particular saw over 60 people gather to mark the occasion with family and friends.

KITCHEN 

As you will know, in 2022 there was a significant investment in the Hall due to the urgent need to repair the collapse of the kitchen floor. Due to health and safety concerns, quotes were sought, and remedial work was promptly carried out, including tanking of exterior walls to manage the damp which had led to the deterioration of the flooring timbers.  The opportunity was also taken to improve the kitchen facilities which has been overwhelmingly welcomed by regular hirers, local families, and groups such as the WI. 

FUNDRAISING – SAVE THE DATE!

The kitchen investment and ongoing running costs have left the coffers very much depleted, so the Trustees are pleased to announce a trial of regular social fundraising events that we will aim to take place ON THE 3RD FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH. Running and timing of events will be coordinated with other groups such as The Friends of St John’s, Conservation Group and WI, noting that July is booked out to the Village Fair.

HIRING THE HALL

We are really hoping that everyone will take the opportunity to use the great new facilities of this wonderful community resource. There is an ongoing programme of work to upgrade the Hall and the more it is used the better.
