Swifts

A posting from Rob Irving

”Good to see the Swifts back in North Bovey this week. They are long distance migrants, May to July and come to us from South Africa where they winter (not a bad idea!). Pairs stay together throughout their lives and the young often return with parents to check for new housing adjacent their birthplaces. Can be seen on summer evenings and have screaming parties flying together low over rooftops. Not unlike human offspring really!”
