Music in Moreton!

Dartmoor-based folk duo, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, nominated again this year for the BBC Radio 2’s folk awards are coming to perform at Moretonhampstead Church.  Brilliant musicians who take folk-lore and old Dartmoor tales and turn them into great songs.

I happened to come across Kathryn and Sean rather randomly on a trip to Somerset in January.  I thought they were brilliant, so I approached them after the gig.  It was just after the pub had burnt down and my original thought was do run the event as a North Bovey community get-together thing.  But they turned out to be a bit more famous than I realised, they only had one night left this year in their touring schedule this year and they were a bit expensive – I’d have needed EVERY North Bovey bottom on a seat!  So I decided to do it as a school PTA fundraiser instead in Moreton church.  It’s more a ‘sit-and-listen’ rather than ‘dancing-shoes’ type event and there will be a bar on-site!
