    COMPETITIONS IN THE CHURCH

The North Bovey fair grows closer but there’s still plenty of time to enter the ‘Decorate a hat fit for a Coronation Competition’. Dress up any hat anyway you like. Flowers, feathers, veils, ribbons and bows all make a glorious hat for a special day. Doesn’t have to be a ladies hat either, Toppers or flat caps can all be flamboyantly decorated. Just leave room to tug your forelock. Or if you want to go completely over the top just make a crown, we’d love to see it! All entries to the Church by 12.30pm on Fair Day which is Saturday 15th July.

    Dog Attack

I have had quite a serious dog attack on my sheep on BroadMeads and because of this I am closing all my fields to the public.  From now on I would like to ask everyone to keep to the footpaths and should my sheep be on the top field in which the path crosses, I would like all dogs to be kept on leads. I’m worried not just about the sheep that has had its throat bitten but all the stress its put on the rest of the flock, which are now heavily pregnant.   Cheers Chris   Chris Clayton   Dartmoor Shooting  e dartmoorshooting@googlemail.com  w www.dartmoorshooting.co.uk  t 07852220581 EX17 5AL

Sad to learn of the passing of our former neighbour at Yarde, Joan Gough. Her funeral will be at 12 noon on Monday 18th July at St John’s North Bovey and is open to those who knew her. Sadly I do not have photograph to add here. If you have one I would be pleased to share it here. CORRECTION: Please note to corrected date above.

    Bovey Castle Voices

We would like to welcome Bovey Castle back to Parish Voices. This morning Christine Johnson, Mandy Hart and I met with Mark Lacey, Marketing Executive at Bovey Castle. We discussed channels of communication available between BC and the community; Parish Voices, Facebook, Twitter, Parish Magazine, Notice Board, email – and talking to each other! Perhaps more importantly we talked about improving relationships. While we were clear about the need for action on points of concern to parishioners, and the ‘tone’ of recent pronouncements, it is fair to say the meeting was cordial and positive. Following the lively meeting in the Parish Hall, joining us on Parish Voices is a welcome second step…
