Craft Fair this Saturday
CRAFT FAIR – Saturday 18th May – 11 am to 2.30 pm – our Village Hall light refreshments ~ lunches ~ tea ~ coffee ~ cakes etc. in aid of St. John’s Church. There are 18 stalls selling an amazing variety of gorgeous gifts – we have handmade vintage treasures, cards, plants, cakes, honey products, Neal’s Yard Remedies, knitting for all the family, pet beds, silver & precious stones jewellery, hand-printed silk scarves, preserves and much much more … there’s even a special table WHERE CHILDREN CAN CREATE THEIR OWN TREASURES, there’s an opportunity for adults to try their hand at spinning and we have a Collectables Corner where you’ll…

Spring Activities in the Bovey Valley
As a member of the Woodland Trust, I received an email about events in the Bovey Valley back at the end of April, and intended to post it here. Many apologies that I didn’t! There is one more event to come which may be of interest: 16 May 2013 – Rare Lichens – Dr Brian and Sandy Coppins – 1 to 4pm A recent survey of Hisely Wood identified 155 species of lichen, although regrettably the same survey indicated a slow migration of species to the outer edges of the wood and a decline in the woodland habitat supporting these rare species. We Climbed the Tower!
Ascension Day in North Bovey began with – not a bang but a hymn. The tower was climbed by a doughty band of singers whose voices competed with a stiff spring wind that carried their notes all too swiftly into the ether. But the view – with sunshine after early rain dappling the hills, fields and woods – was stunning. So was the breakfast – provided by a bevy of those skilled in mass catering under tricky circumstances. Well done and thanks to all concerned.
