Spring Activities in the Bovey Valley
As a member of the Woodland Trust, I received an email about events in the Bovey Valley back at the end of April, and intended to post it here. Many apologies that I didn’t!
There is one more event to come which may be of interest:
16 May 2013 – Rare Lichens – Dr Brian and Sandy Coppins – 1 to 4pm
A recent survey of Hisely Wood identified 155 species of lichen, although regrettably the same survey indicated a slow migration of species to the outer edges of the wood and a decline in the woodland habitat supporting these rare species.
Where to meet ?
This will start from the car park at the top of the Old Manaton Road on the edge of Trendlebere Down SX 785793. The walk is rough and steep in places and the surfaces uneven, so good footwear and being weather-prepared are essential.
Numbers are limited and therefore booking is essential. Please email bookings/enquiries to davidrickwood@woodlandtrust.org.uk
