MADE ON DARTMOOR

So, you’d like to be a Film Director or even a Film Star! Welcome to the Festival’s free to enter, novel challenge and your chance to shine on the silver screen!   To celebrate the 5th year of the Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drink & Arts, we’re asking anyone who is interested to make a video of no more than 90 seconds in duration on the subject of ‘Made on Dartmoor’. Your video should feature people, animals or food products all of which either work, are grown or produced within the confines of the Dartmoor National Park.

The winning entry will be forwarded to BBC Spotlight, BBC Countryfile, Regional ITV, all food & drink producers and tourist organisations in Devon.  All will be requested to use the video or air it at their convenience.  There will also be up to £200.00 worth of prizes for grabs!  Anyone may enter this competition – schools, colleges, theatre groups, individuals, anyone except professional film or video producers or professional cameramen or women.

What to do

1.       First read through this leaflet fully so you understand the basic idea then visit www.moretonfestival.com  and click on ‘Made on Dartmoor’ for further information and the Do’s and Don’ts of the competition

2.       Gather together your ‘production team’; the tasks that need to be carried out might include videoing; voice over; presenter; script writing, and even acting! Such is technology these days you might be able to do it all on your own!

3.       The way you develop the theme of ‘Made on Dartmoor’ is entirely a matter for yourselves – your eventual video might alter substantially from your initial concept!

4.       You should return your entry by DVD, with your details, by no later than 12.00 noon on Monday 4th March 2013. See  the website for the address to which you should return your entry.  The judging panel will view each and every entry and the top 6 submissions for both adults and under 16’s, as judged by the panel, will go forward to the final at 17.00 on Thursday 21st March in the Dartmoor Suite at Bovey Castle.

What the judges will be looking for

1         Good, creative ideas that effectively communicate the theme of the video

2         A theme that creates a lasting image

3         The quality of the finish of your video will not be the overriding factor in the judges’ decision making process, but rather the quality of the idea and the way in which it is portrayed will be the factors that really count.
