Invitation . . .
Village Voices would like to invite a spokesperson for each of the North Bovey bodies/committees to post on behalf of their group. One person from the Parish Council, PPC, Friends of St John’s etc. If you subscribe to the blog your status will be changed to ‘Author’. You can then post and the community will know that accurate information is being published about your activity. You will be asked to head each post “On behalf of . . .” which means you will still be able to comment in a personal capacity.
Posting is pretty simple. Currently Lionel Holmes, Mandy Hart, Jennifer Jones & myself are ‘Authors’ so whoever you know best can show you how to do it.

Gary I am not sure that this is quite the right thing. You are inviting a spokesperson from each committee to speak for each committee which I don’t think can actually happen. Speaking on behalf of the Parish Council, we are not one voice but a collective and as such everything is a group discussion in order to formulate a general opinion of the Council itself. I would imagine most of the other Charities or Committees operate in a similar method. Of course, after various meetings comments can be posted to advertise opinion or decisions.
Similarly, this is not a Parish Council matter currently. It is a matter for the Friends and or the PCC.

I understand if there are organisational problems with the committees. They can be unwieldy beasts But I do feel North Bovey committees’ communications with the community could be much better. Village Voices would seem a suitable, free, vehicle. It would ensure factual accuracy and a clear flow of information with residents. For example: Your recent comment on the FoSJ referred to “The Parish may also be interested to know that on 24th September between 1600-2000 there will be a drop in event in the Hall for Parishioners to give their experiences and ideas about Parish life here in North Bovey”
My point is that this ‘drop-in event’ is mentioned in passing and easily overlooked in a stream of comments. Surely it would be better when organising such an event to post it on the blog so that everybody knows?

Yes I totally agree with that, fully support it. Am positive the PC will continue to post as we have.
