Art Auction next Saturday
Dear All, Please could you pass this on through your mailing lists. We need as many folks as possible to hear about it and support our event. It is an invite to next saturdays Fundraising Art Auction in the Jubilee Hall, Chagford doors open 7.30pm As you will know Proper Job has been at the centre of a lengthy planning battle with the Dartmoor National Park about the uses and appearance of the resource centre. The result has been that we are now having to construct an agricultural style barn over our existing cabins, housing textiles and books ,as well as removing cabins from site and thickening hedgerow planting. In an attempt…

Maypole Dancing – Join in!
Dear Friends, We would love you to join in the Maypole dancing this year – culminating on North Bovey Fair Day, Saturday 19th July from 2pm. Swifts
A posting from Rob Irving ”Good to see the Swifts back in North Bovey this week. They are long distance migrants, May to July and come to us from South Africa where they winter (not a bad idea!). Pairs stay together throughout their lives and the young often return with parents to check for new housing adjacent their birthplaces. Can be seen on summer evenings and have screaming parties flying together low over rooftops. Not unlike human offspring really!” Regards Rob

First Cuckoo?
Rob Irving writes ”On the 16th April I saw a cuckoo up at Nattadon Common, just South of Chagford and today, 22nd April, heard my first up at Olde Yarde, just off Easdon Down. On returning to Nattadon this afternoon, Sonia and I both saw and heard one again. It’s a delight that these birds have returned from Tropical Africa and the recent spell of excellent weather has helped them travel. Be interested to see if anybody has a sound or sighting ahead of these dates this year?”

☝︎☝︎ Top Menu Bar ☝︎☝︎
Village Voices is at last starting to make better use of the top menu bar. This is a place for standing information on places, groups and activities. A supplement to the changing posts on current events. Thank you to Mandy Hart for being the first to send in the Village Fair Page! We hope this will extend to the Parish Hall soon with Booking Information, facilities, how to book etc. It would be great if we could do the same for The Church, a standing list of local food producers, the Parish Council etc. A one-stop page for all those often asked questions about joining in, what is available – whatever…

One Brave Boy . . .
As North Bovey is a community with lots of dog-lovers I thought I would share this link with you. This fine dog, disabled from birth, has such a big heart as he plays with the other dogs.
