Party in the Paddock
Following last year’s hugely enjoyable event there will be a repeat performance on Sunday 28th August at 12.30pm (weather permitting) on the meadow next to Fairbrook Bridge by kind invitation of Dai and Debbie Jenkin BBQ, Games, River play, Entry is free but we will be raising money for Medicins Sans Frontieres so please be generous with your donations for the BBQ Wear appropriate weather proof clothing and bring picnic chairs or rugs. North Bovey Celebrates the Queen’s 90th Birthday
June will be upon us before we know it and the preparations for all the events to celebrate the Queen’s birthday are already underway across the country. As you all know, North Bovey loves a good party and so, on the day of the National Patron’s lunch in the Mall in London, North Bovey is holding it’s very own Parishioner’s Lunch in North Bovey Parish hall on Sunday 12th June at 1pm. Raising the roof
After much form filling, site visits, quotations, phone calls, endless paperwork and a few sleepless nights work will eventually start on the replacement of the church roof next month with scaffolding being erected from March 15th and building work commencing on April 4th. A small cabin will be placed in the car park for the duration of the works by kind permission of the owners (Friends of St John’s) and Teignbridge council and work is expected to last 10 weeks. Christmas Events in the Church
During Advent and Christmas we have a number of events happening in and around St John’s church December 6th at 4.30pm – Christingle Service in the church December 16th at 5.30pm – children’s nativity with real lambs! Meet at the church before walking down the hill to Blackaller to meet the lambs – wellies advisable. December 20th at 4.30pm -‘ Carols by candlelight’ in the church followed by mulled wine and mince pies December 24th at 11.30pm – Midnight Communion in the church December 25th at 9.30 am – Informal family worship – short service in the church Everyone will be very welcome and we look forward to celebrating Christmas…
