RAISING THE ROOF
Work will be starting on the church roof on April 4th with scaffolding being erected from the middle of March. Alex Austin, chairman of the Parish Council has kindly agreed to remove the first slate at a small ceremony starting at 4pm at the church followed by tea (and cake!) to which everyone is invited. Come and join us for a piece of village history in the making – who knows what we might find under the present roof over the next few weeks.

One step closer – we now have the Faculty from Exeter Diocese giving us permission to go ahead with the work on the roof so following a bit more paperwork with the charity giving us the grant we should be able to start work next spring – God willing!

Approval from the Diocese has now been given for the work on the roof to go ahead (although there are still several red tape issues to tackle) and all being well work should be starting at the beginning of April. Although permission will, hopefully, be granted formally by the autumn it will be too late in the year to start work and we have to consider issues such as weather, sourcing the correct materials, roofers schedules and bat habitats! Therefore, April 2016 is the chosen date – watch this space…..

If you can help on the day with serving or kitchen duties and haven’t yet been in touch, please do so. I’m still short of a few bodies – any condition considered!

Church roof latest

After filling in all the forms and carrying out an emergence survey of any bats that may be in residence (none that we could see) and consulting with our architect it seems we still have a little way to go to dot all the i’s and cross the t’s to satisfy all the strict requirements.
