Thieves have “hacked out” two “nationally important” 15th Century panels from a screen in a Devon church (Link).

CRAFT FAIR – Saturday 18th May – 11 am to 2.30 pm – our Village Hall light refreshments ~ lunches ~ tea ~ coffee ~ cakes etc. in aid of St. John’s Church. Ascension Day in North Bovey began with – not a bang but a hymn.  The tower was climbed by a doughty band of singers whose voices competed with a stiff spring wind that carried their notes all too swiftly into the ether.  But the view – with sunshine after early rain dappling the hills, fields and woods – was stunning.  So was the breakfast – provided by a bevy of those skilled in mass catering under tricky circumstances.  Well done and thanks to all concerned.
