    Saturday Fair

    Hi All,  I would like to encourage you all to drop into our Craft Fair this Saturday in the Village Hall.  It opens at 11 am and will run to 4.00 in the afternoon.  We will be serving light refreshments throughout the day including delicious baps, Cornish Pasties and Cheese & Onion Slices for lunch.   In addition to some of the Crafts we had in May we have quality ironwork, local woodwork, ceramics, jewellery, Arran sweaters, exciting socks (bet you didn’t know socks can be exciting!), and, new to North Bovey, we’ve produced local Christmas Cards which the Friends will be selling.  Come and find out why we’ve described this…

    Fair Money Allocation

    Following the Fair Committee meeting last Saturday, it was decided that the fair profits were to be distributed according to the plan which resulted from a public meeting four years ago. At that meeting it was decided that whilst the Hall and the Church were our main priorities for the fund allocation, it was also an opportunity to look outside the village for recipients – charities which had universal respect and that were appropriate as potentially beneficial to us all in the parish.     Following the recent exchange of views regarding the roles and responsibilities of The Friends and the PCC, we wish to confirm that The Friends’ role is solely, as it always has been since inception in 2006,  to raise funds for the care of the fabric of the church building.  It has always been, and will continue to be, incumbent upon the PCC to identify the importance of the works to be undertaken and to approach The Friends for financial assistance.  The Friends then has the responsibility of deciding if this is in its remit or not, according to the Constitution.  The Friends’ accounts are totally transparent and available at the…

    Manaton WI Event

    Thursday 3rd October Our guest this month will be very local to us. Jennifer Jones, who lives in North Bovey, will be speaking to us about Neal’s Yard Remedies, an organic skin care company. Jennifer is an Independent Consultant with Neal’s Yard Remedies, as well as being an aromatherapist in her own right.  She will be sharing with us some of the fragrant items which this company produces.
