Hill Run at the Village Fair
This years race had double the entry of last years inaugural race and was staged in the midst of the July heatwave. News of the race had spread via the FRA fixtures booklet and website and we had a visit from the Haldon Trail runners, two of whom set blistering new records in both male and female categories. The race is a traditional ‘out-and-up’, ‘back-and down’ fell race and the outward climb to the top of Easdon Tor, on a mixture of road, footpath and open moorland, was like a furnace. Village Fair 2013
Well, well done, everyone – there was a prodigious amount of baking, washing up, sorting of bric-a-brac, arranging clothing, displaying books, handing out of bananas, clambering up the church tower, glorious paintings by Moreton school, hill running, scary scarecrows, fabulous cream teas, photographs taken and admired, bottles won, a great raffle, plants planted,exciting and record breaking duck race, bunting erected, prettiest chickens, most enterprising children, perfect maypole dancing with live music by Flute Salad, our lovely church bells, stone carving,well and badly behaved dogs, the lovely Little Huzzar barrel organ, a world class sheep-shearing contest., good food at the Ringers.
