    This is a reminder to all North Bovey Belles W.I. members that we are holding our Annual Meeting by Zoom on Thursday night at 7.30pm. We would urge all members to join us as due to the Covid restrictions, we value your views and suggestions for future events.  There is much that we could do despite the limitations of the pandemic but we need to gauge how much interest there is before arranging such activities.     Remembrance Day 11th November

      The annual Act of Remembrance in North Bovey will take place around the Lych Gate of St John’s Church at 10.55am on Wednesday 11th November.  Please observe strict social distancing and consider wearing a face covering to help protect other participants.  This year’s event will necessarily be slightly different as we will be spread out around the Green and Churchyard and unable to participate in the same way as usual.  Wreaths will be laid by representatives of the PCC and Parish Council, and a 2 minute silence will be observed.     North Bovey Belles October Monthly Meeting

    Galloping horses, ship wrecks, wild coastlines, tin mines, period costumes  – visions of Cornwall presented in slides by Chrissie Le Marchant at the last monthly meeting of the North Bovey Belles WI for their first Virtual Meeting on Zoom.  The members who did log in were treated to a delight of stories starting with the author of Poldark, Winston Graham, his life, what inspired him, the people whose lives he chose to portray and the stories for his heroes and heroines.  Following on were maps of where the series was filmed – then photos of the beautiful countryside that takes the breath away.  History of the houses that were used…

    Drainage Works – advanced warning.

    This is a message sent from Scott Ridell of Devon CC about upcoming drainage works in the road from Pound Rock into the Village. Advanced notice boards will go up a week before the start of the closure, but the drainage works will begin on Monday 2nd November on the main road leading into North Bovey. The road will be closed and light traffic will be directed on a diversion whilst heavy traffic will be allowed to pass through.   Please could you make everyone in the village aware of this.
