    The Revd Paul Seaton-Burn, Team Rector of the Whiddon Parishes, has been appointed to serve also as Interim Priest-in-Charge of Moretonhampstead, North Bovey, Manaton and Lustleigh. He will continue in his present responsibility as Team Rector based in Chagford. Paul’s appointment, for a term of two years, is the first step in a process of closer co-operation between the moorland churches of the Moreton benefice and the Whiddon Parishes. The second step will be the appointment of an Associate Priest to be based at Moretonhampstead Rectory, who will take his or her part in our new ministry team of lay and ordained colleagues as soon as possible.     Colyton during the Second World War

    There are not many of us around who remember what it was like to be a child during the Second World War, so the North Bovey Belles WI were thrilled to hear the experiences of Hugh Dyer-Westacott at their monthly meeting last Thursday. When he was seven he was evacuated from London with his five year old sister to Camelford in Cornwall during the phoney war and then again to Colyton, East Devon after the outbreak of the war.  Hugh told us of the primitive facilities that existed in farm houses at that time: no running water, no indoor toilets, long walks to school which was 2 ½ miles away etc…
