    Himalayan Balsam Bash Monday 23rd June

    Many parts of the River Bovey banks are infested with Himalayan Balsam a noxious invasive weed that causes a great deal of damage to river banks and displaces many native plants. Each year around mid June a group of Parish volunteers join Natural England and Dartmoor National Park volunteers to destroy the invader by mechanical means which mainly involves uprooting the plants by pulling and stacking the debris to allow it to compost. This year there will be a “Balsam Bash” taking place on Monday 23rd June along the banks of the River Bovey starting at Blackaller Bridge (Bovey Bridge) and working towards “Bovey Castle”.
