Latest Progress on the Ring of Bells
Latest progress (mid June) shows the roof is virtually all in place, ready for thatching to begin in July, and the floors are now going in, along with a start on the internal plastering.

Military Wives Choir in North Bovey
A great night was had by all with Sunday night’s concert in St.John’s parish church, North Bovey. Despite the drizzle, there was food available from the barbeque provided by Michael Howard of Moretonhampstead, and a superb collection of raffle prizes organised by David Hubble from many generous local sponsors that raised over £300. As well as the Military Wives Choir from Plymouth, there was a splendid performance from esteemed local tenor, John Colpoys-Wood of Chagford. (For anyone interested, the photos were taken without flash, at speeds of 2200 – 6400 ASA, at apertures of f4-f8 and shutter speeds of 1/20-1/60 second.)

Progress on Ring of Bells Re-build
A few photos taken last week of the work going on beneath the scaffolding that is covering the Ring of Bells. In the main restaurant, an old well has been uncovered, as well as the remains of a cobbled floor in front of the fireplace, possibly dating back to a time when cattle were kept in this part of the building. By the end of the week, several new oak roof trusses were in place.

CPR Practice
CPR LessonSome of the 20 villagers who thanks to Bovey Castle and instruction from Vicky learnt how to perform CPR and use the new defibrillator, during an instruction session in the Village Hall on Monday 24th April.

British Life Photographic Awards
If you look closely or are lucky, you may see some familiar images in the media this week, as I have been lucky enough to have three photographs from in and around North Bovey be awarded “Highly Commended” status in the “Rural Life” category of the inaugural “British Life Photography Awards”, a national photographic competition on the subject of, yes, you guessed it, “British Life”. The photos of the Village Maypole and the Beating of the Bounds were from 2012, and the B&W image is of Tom Hunt feeding his sheep over at Wray Barton early last year.
