church roof update
Having done the hard bit and been awarded a grant we have now completed all the necessary paperwork for the Diocese in order to get permission to do the work! This has now been submitted and after a few weeks wait we hope to get the go ahead to start work at the beginning of September. The work should take about 10 weeks and the church will be able to remain open during the re-roofing. There will be a cover over the roof to protect it from the elements whilst work takes place and we shall be taking great care not to disturb the bats that are resident. To that end,…

The Friends of St John’s are also contributing a significant amount towards the costs and the work will hopefully begin towards the end of the summer. Lost Sheep!
North Bovey is missing it’s sheep! Sometime over the summer the sheep, displayed on the village green and painted by the local children, wandered off. If anyone has seen it recently or knows of it’s whereabouts could they please contact me (441224) so that we can collect it. Alternatively, it can be returned to the church. We would really like to have it back in time for the Harvest Festival as it could be used to illustrate the talk that David Ursell has planned.

Competitions in the Church for North Bovey Fair
Our children’s competition this year is ‘Decorate a Balloon‘. Decorate a balloon with what ever you want, how ever you want and as many times as you want! Lot’s of colourful entries would be lovely. Just bring the best of what you’ve grown. It doesn’t matter if it’s a mix of vegetables or one prize specimen, flowers and herbs growing in pots, cut & bunched or one prize bloom. We are open to anything and everything. This will be…
