    Fair Meeting Next Wednesday!

    Hi everyone, I’ve organised a meeting for all comers to discuss the Fair on Saturday 18th July. Next Wednesday 6th May 7.00pm in the Parish Hall. The objectives are: 1) To allocate the many responsibilities among our keen and eager bunch of volunteers to make this year’s Fair to be another huge success. 2) To get other ideas of what we can do on the day to raise more money , either for this time around or the future. 3)  To discuss the “governance” of the Fair. E.G. Should there be a more formal committee ? If yes, what should the roles be and how are they “elected” . . . or is…

    British Life Photographic Awards

    If you look closely or are lucky, you may see some familiar images in the media this week, as I have been lucky enough to have three photographs from in and around North Bovey be awarded “Highly Commended” status in the “Rural Life” category of the inaugural “British Life Photography Awards”, a national photographic competition on the subject of, yes, you guessed it, “British Life”.  The photos of the Village Maypole and the Beating of the Bounds were from 2012, and the B&W image is of Tom Hunt feeding his sheep over at Wray Barton early last year.  If you are quick, you can see the images along with all the…

    Joyce Crabtree at the Village Fair – 92 and counting!

    Our most loyal supporter, Joyce Crabtree, now 92, was introduced by John Williams at the Fair on Saturday. She has presented us with a pile of old photos of the fair over the years which I shall scan, but in the meantime, thought you would be interested in one of her stories of Fair day in 1984.     STIMULATING WEATHER CONDITIONS PROMISED – FAIR GOES AHEAD!

    YES, folks, we’re going for it – may be a few more people in the tea room and the church, and who knows about the duck race, but…. the raffle prizes this year are FABULOUS!!!!!!!! extraordinary bric-a-brac there is a new game for golf enthusiasts! cake baking has been unprecedented people are coming from Chile, Denmark, Germany just for our fair, so lets make it good regardless of weather. don’t forget to bring your garden produce to the church between 10 and 12.30 for a chance to win a rosette for your skills. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO COME ALONG!
