    Devon and Cornwall Police to receive an extra 141 officers in year one of uplift programmeDevon and Cornwall Police will get more officers than any other force in the south west under the national programme to increase police numbers, it has emerged. The National Policing Board on Tuesday, October 8, announced what year one of the Government’s officer uplift plan would look like for each of the 43 forces in England and Wales.     Scam Directed at Young People

    For parents and guardians Parents and guardians in Devon and Cornwall are being urged to warn their children about the dangers of becoming a money mule, with national figures revealing the number of 14-18-year olds misusing their bank accounts has risen by 73 per cent in two years. A money mule is someone who transfers stolen money through their own bank account on behalf of someone else and is paid for doing so. Criminals use money mules to launder the profits of their crimes.  Young people are often unaware that acting as a money mule is illegal, not being aware of the provenance of the money going through their accounts.…

    Are you old enough to remember the advert “Can you tell the difference between Stork and butter?”.    Well the North Bovey Belles W.I.  had the opportunity to try out various foods, snacks and drinks purchased from various supermarkets in a “Tastebud Challenge” on Thursday 10th October. On the evening, tables were laid out with products labelled A, B or C and we decided which one we preferred on our own answer sheet.  When the results were read out there were many surprises in store.  There was no right or wrong answer, but the opportunities to try three different types of cheeses alongside each other proved to be very interesting.  Who could tell the difference between Lidl…

    Coast to Coast for Rowcroft – the final bit

    TWO DARTMOOR PENSIONERS COMPLETE AMAZING RUN ACROSS THE COUNTRY Two pensioners from Dartmoor have just completed an amazing run across the north of the country following Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Footpath from St Bees on the Cumbrian coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Yorkshire coast line, a distance of 196 miles with a total ascent of about 28,000 feet.
