Flower Festival
Some of the North Bovey flower arrangers have a display at St Andrews Church in Moreton this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It’s always an amazing event. Here’s what they say…… ST ANDREW’S FLOWER FESTIVAL Friday 28th June – Sunday 30th June All day The festival is to be held in the traditional Dartmoor church with the theme ‘ A Celebration of Rural Life’ and the spacious window sills and granite pillars inside the church are wonderful sites for some of the 40 or so exhibits. Dartmoor Society Summer Barbeque
The Dartmoor Society Summer Barbecue, talk and walk will take place on the evening of Friday July 19th.This will be held at Langaford Farm Trust which is at Lettaford and will be an opportunity for anyone to come along and see this lovely farm that is run for wildlife conservation, to experience the walk and talk on a moth/butterfly theme and to enjoy the barbecue.All the details can be found here:https://www.dartmoorsociety.com/events#event125 Caya Edwards

North Bovey Belles W.I.
When you want a change of career, how do you do it? Liz Gavrilenko decided to become an artisan baker and has made a success of it in her little yellow Van du Pain that she parks up in Moretonhampstead. Liz came along to the North Bovey Belles WI on Thursday 13th to tell us all about her adventure. She started baking bread in her kitchen making 10 loaves at a time. She now cooks in the old hospital kitchen. Not only that but she now also makes cakes and pastries as well. Congratulations, Bob!
This is great news! North Bovey’s very own Bob Small has been selected to run for England in the half-marathon distance where he will compete in his age group of 70 – 74. Bob, who ran for Middlesex and Southern Counties of England as a track athlete in the 1970s, stopped running in the mid 1980’s – cricket and then golf taking pride of place. But, just 5 years ago in 2014 he started running again and gradually regained his fitness, winning nearly all of his age group races and, sometimes, even beating all those in the 60 – 64 and 65 – 69 age groups as well.
